About Me

Hello World!

I am glad you are here,My name is Qias a student at Academy of Learning. This is my first attempt On learning HTML at Sessions' web design courses,

Please feel free to visit my photoes, videos and favorite sites

Inasmuch as this web page has a learning, experimental character,I will happy if you share your thoughts regarding its design and drop me a line in my email box

The steps to create this site

For building this site, first I downloaded Note Pad++

(A free text editor) , then with 0 knowledge in HTML coding

I started using "starter site" template which provided by Sessions.

I changed the title, site's name and fallowed the instruction to change the photo which says:

"Replace the name portrait.jpg with the exact name and extension of your new image file."

But when I did in the exact way my photo disappeared!

I tried to figure it out where is the problem, after hours with no results,I opened the file, now with different approach, and I could see it looks like this: portrait .jpg.jpg.

Then I realized that the program automatically adds extension, so I fixed it.

Location of photo changed to left, I like the idea of giving the image description which is visible only by hovering the mouseon it, I followed the "alt tag formula" but again no result for many hours.

Nextday morning I showed the "alt tag formula" to my instructor Lindsey Bedgood (she is the first lady in our Academy of learning center and married to HTML for long time) after brief look she said the code is wrong and quickly changed alt to title.

Now, thanks to Lindsey, if you hover the mouse on my picture you will see samething:)

Here is the moral : "In HTML never trust the texts in the book but guru, texts may have typo mistakes."

I had another typo problem with making bullets, the formula should has "li" in the beginning instead of "l1"

I then generated and put Flicker's and Vox's badges in sidebar section, but they look so ugly ,they were adhered together, and both were sticked to the page border.

To resolve the problem ,I looked at sidebar's code in my trusty text editor, and opened some WebPages with arranged badges in the center of container, by comparing codes( cheating )and after trial and error I learned to put paragraph to separate badges and add

< center> to bring them in the center of sidebar section.

In the next step I made inks to my Images, video and etc.

Then using CSS I changed all background colors.

Over all the whole process was so exciting. From this exercise I learned that without HTML knowledge the site creating process might become a challenge and copy and paste formula is very risky deal.

I will start my HTML and CSS courses next month and I hope I will learn how to create web site from scratch with necessary skills for coding.
